SMARCTIC project partner Derry City and Strabane District Council is working towards its pledge to achieve net zero greenhouse emissions and climate resilience across the city and district by 2045. Working in collaboration with three other councils and the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) a number of Climate Events were organised for 8th November to coincide with COP26.
The roadshow within the Derry City and Strabane District Council Region was hosted in Foyleside Shopping Centre, Derry and Asda Supermarket, Strabane. The aim of the roadshow was to provide information on Becoming Weather Ready for the Winter. The leaflet contained emergency contact information and contact numbers for citizens in case of severe weather events, flooding and power outages. Energy Saving Tips from the Energy Saving Trust were also included in the leaflet.
In total around 500 information leaflets were distributed between the two sites. The feedback from customers was very positive with the impact of higher energy bills was the main topic of conversation. Some promotional material such as radiator keys and multi-use plastic drinking cups were also distributed to customers at both locations.
